The most frequented and second largest national park in Sri Lanka is Yala National Park. Situated in the southeast belt of the country, Yala was designated a wildlife sanctuary in 1900. The park has five blocks and the main entrance is block 1, which can be entered by Tissa – Palatupana route. Yala national park covers a land mass 979 square kilometers (378 sq mi).
