Lost in the hills of Kabaragalla in Mandaramnuwara, an old tea estate established in the late 1800s sits gracefully, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The factory,
abandoned for 28 years, was tenderly restored to its original glory as ‘Tea and Experience Factory’. The fact that the teas of Kabaragalla estate fetched the best price at the first ever tea auction held in Sri Lanka on 30 July 1883*, makes it unique among other tea estates. The principle intention of this experiential boutique hotel is to provide its visitors with an immersive, artisan journey from tea plucking to packing while creating a luxurious space for rest and relaxation. The locals from the estate have been re-employed at the tea factory to help them sustain their way of life.
