The old port of Trincomalee arranged on the northeast shore of Sri Lanka has an inert natural harbor that has made the locale an award to be battled about by remote forces for ages. Amid the Second World War the port was a significant British maritime settlement. Raised on an isthmus with profound coves to seaward, Trincomalee is the biggest city in the locale.
