Over Water Experience in Sri Lanka & Maldives

Concept of the tour

The theme of the tour is for you to engross yourself in marine life whilst staying strictly at on-water accommodation only and thereto in two destinations, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The two destinations need no introduction to the beautiful white sandy pristine beaches and marine life. This tour is designed mainly for divers and water sport enthusiasts who enjoy exploring what the ocean has to offer. With as many as 08 to 09 dives at different sites included in the program, exploring the mysterious ocean is a just booking away. If you are an amateur or beginner at diving, don’t worry we can arrange fiving lessons on the tour.  The accommodation selected will always be on water, from house boats in the backwaters or sailing in the southern ocean stretch of Sri Lanka to liveaboard experience in the Maldives, if you are lover of water , well this is designed keeping you in mind.

Crocodiles monitor lizards and exotic species of birds grace the mangrove-laden ecosystem of this long southern waterway habited by traditional fishing communities. Welcome at Male Airport and proceed to Carpe Diem (Liveaboard) counter for check-in. Thereafter travel to Carpe Diem Liveaboard via Dhoni. (Approx. 15 minutes) The liveaboard is docked at the Hulhumale port.

Saturday: Guests board vessel around 1 pm or 3 pm ;  welcome briefing, documents; check out dive.

Notes: It is better to have at least 30 dives to come on a liveaboard diving trip and preferably an advanced open water qualification. Guests are able to complete their advanced open water qualification with us onboard if we are advised in advance.  For divers with little experience, it will restrict them to maybe not being able to complete all of the dives on the trip or if they wish they can pay to hire a private guide which we can arrange and then the private guide will keep them at more shallow depths than the more experienced divers.  To hire a private guide is US $ 720 for a one week trip.

General notes while on board Carpe Diem: The dive sites will include manta cleaning stations, a couple of channel dives for sharks and then some thilas and pinnacles as well as a ship wreck.  The specific dive sites for each day are chosen the night before by the dive leader in conjunction with the captain who will consider the local conditions and will determine the best sites based on safety.  There is always a wide variety of dive sites to choose from and every trip will include manta cleaning stations, the opportunity to snorkel/dive with a whale shark, a night dive with the nurse sharks and a shipwreck.
